Recruitment
It has always been the policy of Sunrise to recruit and hire within the communities that we serve. We carefully
screen each applicant through a multi-layered process of applications, driving record checks, Federal and State criminal background
checks through live scan technology, testing, hands on behind the wheel training and DOT physical and substance abuse testing.
Our Employees
All of our drivers undergo in-service training that includes behind the wheel, road evaluation and up to 20 hours of
classroom instruction. Employees driving records are checked at least twice each year and are subject to annual physical
and drug testing as well as periodic (random) substance abuse testing.
Sunrise drivers have available
to them a competitive starting wage, an excellent safe-driving bonus program based upon actual miles driven, attendance bonuses,
paid holidays, paid in-service meetings and life insurance benefits.

Join our team?
Sunrise accepts applications at all four facilities, Monday through Friday from 9 am until 3 pm. Qualified applicants need
to be able to provide at least three years of driving record as well as information on employers over the same time period.
Once accepted into training, applicants undergo classroom training that is provided by the company to assist
them with the successful completion of the mandatory Commercial Driver License, Passenger and School Bus Endorsement testing.
They are then placed behind the wheel for at least 30 hours of training. Once they have completed all of the above
elements, have cleared the criminal background and physical/drug testing requirments, they are road tested by an Illinois
Secretary of State Certified Third Party Road Tester.
Our Vehicles
Sunrise operates an average fleet age of vehicle of 7 years. New vehicles are entered into our stable each and
every year while older equipment is retired. All vehicles are automatic transmission, some are smaller busses but most
are full size special needs or conventional busses.
Maintenance is performed regularly on our vehicles with
a thorough preventive maintenance scheduling program.
